Storm Cat is a place for curious people, imaginary worlds, real-world nature, art, TTRPGs, and all the strange little rabbit holes we find along the way.
Whether you’re a lifelong Game Master, rolling your first set of dice, here for the artwork, interested in nature, or simply wandered in because you saw a funny little creature somewhere, you’re welcome.
This blog is a shared table. There’s room for different ideas, different experiences, and different ways of playing, but everyone at the table deserves to be treated with respect.
✦ Pull Up a Chair
Storm Cat is a space for sharing ideas, asking questions, learning things, telling stories, and getting excited about the things we love.
Around here, you might find conversations about:
- Tabletop games and adventures
- Worldbuilding and storytelling
- Art and the creative process
- Fantasy creatures, plants, and places
- Wildlife and the natural world
- Game design and homebrew
- Behind-the-scenes creative experiments
- Whatever curious subject has caught my attention lately
You don’t need to know everything to join a conversation. Questions are welcome. Enthusiasm is welcome. Quietly reading along is welcome too.
✦ Be Kind
Different people play differently, create differently, and see the world differently.
Disagreement is completely fine. Being unkind about it isn’t.
Critique ideas rather than people, assume good intentions where reasonable, and remember that there’s a human being on the other side of the screen.
There is no place here for harassment, personal attacks, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, or other forms of hate or discrimination.
You also don’t need to win every rules debate.
I promise. The dice will forgive you.
✦ There’s No Right (or Wrong) Way to Play
Storm Cat will naturally reflect the way I enjoy TTRPGs, but it isn’t the only way to play.
Rules-heavy or rules-light. Roleplay or combat. Published adventures or elaborate homebrew worlds you’ve spent three years building even though your players will inevitably ignore half of it.
It’s your table.
Share your experiences without treating personal preferences as universal rules, and allow other people to enjoy games differently than you do.
✦ Respect Creators
Storm Cat is built around creativity, and I want this to be a place that respects the people who make the things we enjoy.
When sharing someone else’s artwork, writing, maps, resources, photography, homebrew, or other creative work, please credit the original creator and link to their work whenever possible.
Don’t repost work as your own, remove watermarks or credits, distribute paid resources, or encourage piracy.
Inspiration is wonderful. Creators deserve acknowledgement for what they create.
✦ Spoilers Belong Behind A Warning
TTRPG conversations sometimes involve published adventures, games, books, films, and other stories people may still be discovering.
If you’re about to reveal something significant, give people a clear spoiler warning first.
The same goes for anything that could spoil an ongoing campaign I’ve shared on the blog.
Nobody wants to discover the identity of the mysterious hooded stranger because they made the mistake of reading the comments.
✦ Sensitive Content
Fantasy can occasionally wander into darker territory, and real-world topics aren’t always light either.
When a post contains potentially sensitive material, I’ll do my best to provide an appropriate content note.
If you’re discussing particularly graphic or sensitive material in the comments, please give other readers a little warning before diving into the details.
This isn’t about avoiding difficult subjects. It’s simply about giving people the choice of when and whether they want to engage with them.
✦ Keep Advice Safe
Sharing knowledge and experiences is encouraged, especially when we’re talking about nature, wildlife, plants, or other real-world subjects.
Please don’t present dangerous, misleading, or unverified information as fact.
And when something falls outside the realm of personal experience (particularly health, wildlife rehabilitation, animal care, safety, or other areas where bad advice could cause harm) leave the expert advice to the experts.
Being curious also means being comfortable saying, “I don’t know.”
✦ Privacy & Boundaries
You never need to share personal information to participate here.
Please also respect the privacy of other people. Don’t post someone else’s private information, conversations, photographs, or identifying details without their permission.
I may occasionally share pieces of my own life through this blog, but sharing something publicly doesn’t make every part of my life public. Some names, locations, and personal details may remain private.
✦ Comments & Moderation
Comments are here to add to the conversation.
Spam, harassment, hate speech, personal attacks, deliberate misinformation, piracy, or comments that make this space unsafe or unpleasant may be edited, removed, or closed to further discussion.
Constructive disagreement won’t be removed simply because someone has a different opinion.
A pretty reliable rule is:
Would you say this to another person sitting across the table from you?
If the answer is no, it’s probably worth reconsidering before hitting submit.
✦ You’re Welcome to Just Read & Enjoy
You don’t have to comment, participate, buy anything, or introduce yourself to belong here.
Read a post. Look at some art. Steal a worldbuilding idea for your home game. Learn something about a bird. Fall down a rabbit hole about fantasy mushrooms.
Stay for five minutes or come back every week.
Storm Cat is simply a little corner for curious people who enjoy exploring real and imaginary worlds.
Pull up a chair whenever you’d like. There’s room at the table. ♡
